Now that Phoebe is home, we've switched into domestic mode. Her progress continues to improve but the changes come more slowly. I intend to update the blog with happenings - both for Phoebe and the crosswalk. Now that Phoebe is healing well, it is time for action.

Chapter Three - The long road to recovery?


As Carol and I sat in the Wake Med Trauma Emergency Room, we had no idea how lucky we were as parents. A steady flow of trauma specialists and related medical personnel entered and left the room. Each of them explaining their piece of the whole situation. There were orthopedic specialists, ear, nose and throat specialists, trauma specialists, pediatric specialists, and physician's assistants as well as trauma nurses. Each of them garnered our immediate confidence and respect. The prognosis was generally good. She was believed to have a broken leg and broken jaw but more X-rays and scans are necessary.
